August 2024 SEMPPES President’s Message

We had a wonderful 34^th Annual SEMPPES Golf Outing Friday 7/26/2024.  We had 136 golfers, and the weather was perfect!  Thank you very much to our sponsors, see banner above, which will be shown at all SEMPPES meetings until the next year.  Thank you to our volunteers, including Sarah McNulty and son, Geno Ventimiglia, and Chad Forester.  Special Thanks to Past President Fred Reddig and Ford Field for the fantastic raffle prizes they provided including a football signed by defensive end Aiden Hutchinson, a helmet signed by linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, and tickets to the Tampa Bay game September 15^th.  If you won the Lions tickets contact Fred Reddig; those tickets are non-transferable.  Other notable raffle prizes were two (2) sets of four (4) Tigers tickets provided by WJ O’Neil and PowerVac; if you won those be sure to contact the person on the flyers to get your electronic tickets.  Mystic Creek donated a round of golf for four (4).  Roncelli donated a couple of bottles of fine wine and two (2) bottles of bourbon to make your evening shine.  Aero Filter donated two (2) sets of two dozen golf balls, a practice putting green, and a golf bag with umbrella and ball retriever.  Camfil donated a bag of golfing supplies.  RL Deppmann donated a JBL Bluetooth speaker.  Past President Ed Kachadoorian (BASF) donated a few dozen camping / hiking chairs.  There were other donations as well, my apologies for not noting them all.

The day’s winners were team Siwa with a 51, Team Lieder with a 54, and Team Keller with a 59.  Team Keller was not present for the awards ceremony, so their winnings went to Team Burns with a 61.  Brad Welinski won the putting contest out of the twelve golfers who made the 10-foot qualifying putt by coming closest to the pin on the 20-foot elimination putt but missed the 50-foot putt for $5,000.00.

Remaining 2024 Meeting Schedule

For all meetings in 2024 the Member who brings the most new members to the meeting will receive a “Best Recruiter” prize of $50.00.

August 2024:  No meeting, summer break.

September 19, 2024:  We are finalizing details for the September meeting.  It will either be:

·         4:30 pm @ Whiskeys on the Water:  Dave Stenrose, Chief Boiler Inspector for the State of Michigan to present on LARA / Boiler Code news, or

·         Facility Tour at Little Caesar’s Arena.

As soon as details are finalized, we’ll publish the meeting so you can register.

October 17, 2024, 4:30 pm @ Bakers of Milford:  Armstrong International presenting on Steam Trap testing.

November 8, 2024, 4:30 pm @ Weber’s Inn, Ann Arbor: Executive Board meeting.  Note this is Friday, as requested.  This meeting is for the current Board and all past presidents.  One item for this meeting is approval of nominees for the new Board member, who will be an Engineer member.  If you would like to be considered or have someone to nominate, please speak to us on or before the October meeting!

November 21, 2024, 4:30 pm @ Whiskeys on the Water:  Camfil presenting on tool, tech and updates for air filtration.  In addition to the presentation, all Members present will vote on any nominees for the 2025 Sergeant at Arms approved by the Executive Board.

December 2024:  No meeting, holiday break.

2025 Memberships will be available soon; look to your email inboxes for notice.
